Civiline Specialist Commercial Mowers
Fast Track to Ground Clearing
After previously winning the CIVENEX engineering award for Most Innovative Product, Inlon has introduced HerbHy, a radio-controlled track machine, to its Civiline clearing, mowing and grounds care range.
Inlon launched the first radio-controlled wheeled slope mower onto the Australian market back in 2007. Called Spider, the revolutionary patented design, which eliminated the risk of operators being injured during a roll-over incident, went on to win the coveted innovation award at CIVENEX. Now, the new HerbHy 40 track machine is set to bring the same innovation into ground clearing work across difficult terrain or heavy vegetation growth on slopes.
Glenn Dwyer, Inlon’s Product Manager, explained HerbHy’s appeal to Australian commercial landscaping professionals. ‘The Spider commercial mower-slasher range has already proved popular for general maintenance of steep slopes or rapidly changing contours, removing the OH&S concerns of traditional ride-on wheeled machines. But the radio-controlled HerbHy 40 track machine can go where no mower-slasher has been before! It will take on the roughest terrain, ruts, holes, even eroded mines, clearing everything in its path.’
With the optional forestry mulcher head, the HerbHy tackles heavy shrub clearing jobs such as Lantana, Blackberries, Bamboo and various regrowth up to 100mm. The head features a push bar for taller growth, to first push and cut down with the remotely operated door open, and then mulch the material on the ground with the door closed.
‘Importantly,’ says Dwyer, ‘the HerbHy is strong and robust, with the underbody protection structurally integrated into the chassis so the engine and components are protected from debris. Driven by a 40 hp 30 kW turbo charged Perkins diesel engine, this track machine is designed for clearing heavy growth on slopes up to 55 degrees, or powering across flat, difficult terrain, while the operator watches from a safe distance with the remote control. The graphic LED display shows the degree of slopes and provides engine diagnostics. Commercial ground clearers will find the HerbHy perfect under canopy areas, in state forests, embankments, highways, rail corridors, airports and military zones as well as for fire break clearing, even in the presence of fire.
The tracks can be hydraulically widened from 1,360 to 1,860mm to improve machine stability on steeper slopes, while the automatic hydraulic tensioning system reduces track maintenance, extends track life and reduces ownership costs.
‘Inlon is always testing and evaluating new models that will suit the challenging Australian terrain,’ says Dwyer. ‘The HerbHy 40 offers a powerful and safe opportunity for heavy duty ground clearance, and its large range of tool attachments from a bucket to a stump grinder make it extra versatile for all applications.’

“Progressively, as new technology came to market, we recognised each offered advantages and benefits in differing situations. We saw the need to develop a “Roadmap” to navigate the range of technology; a Roadmap for mowing contractors to identify the best mower for their commercial mowing work.
“Importantly, there isn’t one mower that will suit every application. In the Roadmap, we define a range of mowing situations, from the simple and common, through increasing difficulty and specialist niches, to the extreme of mowing and land clearing applications. We hope that our Roadmap will guide contractors when deciding which specialist commercial mower to consider.”
The Civiline range of clearing, mowing and grounds-care machinery includes brushcutters, verge mowers, reach mowers and remote-controlled 4-wheel drive and track slope mowers. For more detail about mowing technology and the roadmap, visit www.inlon.ag/910
